CHICKENS

We have 4 rescue hens from a battery life who seem to have now taken over control of our garden and almost our lives too.

To introduce you to them they are

Mable who certainly thinks she is in control and can go where she pleases

Queenie with her large regal comb

Henrie who sits on a nest every day but never seems to lay an egg

Edna who is large and comfortable enjoys taking a few steps at a time having a snooze in the sun and then a few more steps

To join them we recently received 5 baby chicks from a friend.

We thought it would be fun to keep a photgraphic record of the "babies" from when they arrived at about 2 weeks old on 08 March 2009 up to when they join the older hens. Sadly though one of the babies arrived with difficulty in breathing and soon passed away. But happily the other 4 are growing well exploring the big world. So rather than introduce each of them here you can see a slide show of them as they grow by clicking on this "Chicks". We will add to the slide show over the coming weeks and days so do keep popping back.
